Maryland ATVing Homepage High Performance Shoot-out

We took the two best high performance quads on the market today (sorry, we didn't have a Cannondale) and put them both to the test in the trails, fire roads, hills and pits of Pennsylvania.  Which quad came out on top?  In 60 seconds or less you say?  Well, both quads handle extremely well...  After copying the masterminds over at Honda...both quads are the same size, within an inch or so in any direction, to a Honda 400EX.  Both motors are extremely powerful, much more so than a stock Honda 400EX.  One test rider commented about the Yamaha Raptor 660R, "... it has so much low end grunt...just twitch the throttle and the Raptor wants to blast off."  Another test rider commented about the Suzuki Quadsport Z400, "...it's power comes on much smoother, but really revs out...the Z400 motor seems almost 2-Stroke like!"  Dirt Wheels has reported in a 100 yard drag race the Raptor is slightly faster, but the Z400 did win a few of the races if the Raptor wheelied off the line.  This is pretty unbelievable considering the Raptor has 260cc more displacement than the Suzuki.  Both machines are very comfortable for extended rides.  We didn't have this Raptor to the MX Track yet, but the Z400 likes to fly.  Both machines have almost identical jumping characteristics as a 400EX, the Raptor being slightly heavier.  All of the test riders loved both machines.  Both handle well in all of the terrain that we tested in... high speed straights, tight woods, hill climbs, you name it.  But in the end, the overall conclusion was that both the Raptor 660R and the Quadsport Z400 are two fantastic machines.  You couldn't go wrong with either one!
